Electricity and natural gas are vital to our daily lives, providing us with the energy we use at home, work, school and play. At Central Hudson, safety is our top priority and we encourage everyone to use energy responsibly. Below are links to safety tips and guidelines to keep you, your family, your neighbors, and your co-workers safe.

To Report an Emergency

Natural Gas Odor Hotline: If you detect a natural gas odor or otherwise suspect a potential natural gas leak, remember: STOP. GO. LET US KNOW. That means stop whatever you're doing. Go outside immediately. And let us know by calling our natural gas odor hotline at 1-800-942-8274. Please respect that this number is only for gas odor/leak reporting. Calls about unrelated topics will not be serviced.

To report fallen wires: If you see a downed power line or other potentially hazardous condition involving electrical equipment, stay away from the area. For your safety, we suggest you stay at least 30 feet away from downed lines. The ground around downed or low hanging power lines as well as surrounding objects such as fences could be energized. Call 911 or Central Hudson immediately at 1-800-527-2714 to make a report.

While you wait for a Central Hudson crew to arrive, continue to keep a safe distance and, if possible, keep others away. Our crews will arrive as quickly as possible.
