Comprehensive Energy Efficiency Upgrades

Comprehensive EFficiency Program Form

Comprehensive efficiency program: a smarter way to improve your building's energy performance

Central Hudson’s Comprehensive Efficiency Program is designed to help commercial and multifamily customers achieve cost‑effective, long‑lasting energy savings.

Instead of focusing on single equipment replacements, this program takes a whole‑building approach, tailoring upgrades to the unique needs of your facility and its long‑term operational goals, aligning with our broader strategy to deliver meaningful efficiency improvements, reduce energy use, and support better building performance.

This program is ideal for customers who are planning major renovations or looking to substantially improve their building’s overall energy efficiency.

project categories that qualify for incentives

To participate, projects must include multiple measures and fall under at least one of these key upgrade categories:

1. Building Envelope+:

Major building shell improvements paired with additional energy‑saving upgrades. These may include:

  • Insulation enhancements
  • Window upgrades
  • Air sealing
  • HVAC distribution improvements such as demand-controlled ventilation (DCV) or advanced rooftop unit (RTU) controls

2. Energy Management System+:

Upgrades to energy or building management systems designed to optimize performance across mechanical and electrical systems. Eligible improvements may also include HVAC distribution efficiency measures.

3. Hard-to-Electrify Gas+:

High‑efficiency gas heating solutions for buildings where full electrification is not yet feasible. Projects must pair gas upgrades with additional efficiency enhancements.

This category is reserved for exceptional cases where electrification is technically challenging. Email to inquire.

incentives and cost caps

Central Hudson offers generous financial incentives to help offset upgrade costs:

  • $12 per lifetime MMBTU (LMMBTU) saved for

    • Building Envelope+
    • Energy Management System+
  • $1 per Lifetime MMBTU (LMMBTU) saved for

    • Hard‑to‑Electrify Gas+

A 75% incremental cost cap or $100,000 maximum incentive applies (whichever is reached first).

Example Incentive Calculation:

If your Energy Management System upgrade saves 214.50 MMBTU annually with a 15‑year measure life, the total lifetime savings would be:

214.50 × 15 = 3,217.5 LMMBTU

Your incentive would then be:

3,217.5 LMMBTU × $12 = $38,610
