Custom and Prescriptive Program
Energy-saving solutions for Commercial customers
Central Hudson’s Commercial & Industrial (C&I) Custom & Prescriptive Program offers businesses a flexible way to upgrade equipment, cut energy costs, and improve operational efficiency. Designed for a wide range of non‑residential facilities, from manufacturing to agriculture to office buildings, the program provides incentives for both standard and custom energy‑efficient upgrades, helping customers reduce electric consumption and manage peak demand.
eligible equipment & energy-saving measures: Prescriptive
Process Efficiency Upgrades
Enhance productivity while lowering energy use with:
- Process exhaust air filtration systems
- Process heat recovery systems
- Advanced process controls
Agricultural Efficiency Measures
Improve farm operations with upgrades such as:
- High-efficiency pumps and fans
- Heat recovery systems
- Livestock waterers
Economizers
Improve HVAC performance with dual enthaply air-side economizers integrated into central air handling systems or packaged rooftop units.
Energy Recovery Ventilators (ERVs)
Capture and reuse energy from exhaust air to pre‑condition incoming outdoor air—reducing HVAC load and improving indoor comfort.
Refrigeration System Upgrades
Boost reliability and efficiency with:
- Refrigeration controls
- Air‑cooled condensers
- Refrigerated case doors & automatic closers
- ECM motors
Cooling Equipment
Support efficient cooling through:
- High‑efficiency rooftop units (RTUs)
- Other advanced cooling options
Compressed Air Efficiency
Reduce operational costs with:
- High‑efficiency air compressors
- Heat recovery systems
- Controls and monitoring
- Efficient dryers, filters, nozzles, and drains
eligible equipment & energy-saving measures: custom
For energy‑saving solutions that don’t fit into the categories above, the custom path ensures unique or specialized upgrades can still qualify for incentives.
incentives and cost caps
- Incentives are paid at $7–$9 per Lifetime MMBTU (LMMBTU) saved.
- Projects are subject to a 75% incremental cost cap or a maximum of $100,000, whichever comes first.
Example Incentive Calculation, Refrigeration Upgrade:
If your refrigeration system improvement saves 268.99 MWh annually:
- Convert MWh → MMBTU:
268.99 × 3.412 = 917.5 MMBTU - Measure life: 12 years
- Lifetime savings:
917.5 × 12 = 11,010 LMMBTU - Incentive at $7/LMMBTU:
11,010 × $7 = $77,070
