Frequently Asked Questions
No. The "Transfer Service" option is intended for a customer who is moving between two properties served by Central Hudson. Choose "Transfer Service" if you need to stop service at your current address and start service at your new address, and both properties are served by Central Hudson.
"Transfer Service" cannot be used to transfer an account from one person to another, such as from a tenant to a landlord or roommate. To change account ownership, the current account holder must stop service and the new account holder must separately submit their own request to start service in their name.
If you're moving into a newly constructed home or business, or a property that does not yet have a meter installed, please visit our New Service Requests page and submit the appropriate form(s). Because these forms require technical information, they are often completed by a builder or contractor.
If you're moving into a previously occupied home or business with an existing meter and service line, click "Start Service" above. On the next screen, select "Home" or "Business" to apply for service at that address.
Before starting an application to start service you must have the following information available for your account type.
Residential Customers:
- An official form of ID (such as a Driver's License, Social Security Number, State ID Number, or Passport)
- The exact address of your new residence, including apartment number, if applicable.
