Jamie

Meet Jamie, Senior Transmission Operator at Central Hudson.

He helps ensure operators are prepared to make confident decisions that support safety and reliability across the region.

When the power stays on across the Hudson Valley, there’s a lot happening behind the scenes to make that possible. Jamie plays a key role in preparing the people who make those decisions every day.

As Central Hudson’s dedicated Transmission Operator trainer, Jamie is responsible for both onboarding new operators and delivering ongoing training for experienced staff. From day one through years on the job, he helps ensure operators have the skills, confidence, and judgment needed to safely manage the electric grid—during routine operations and when conditions are anything but routine.

“Our operators are in the control room 24/7, every day of the year,” Jamie says. “They’re ready to respond the moment something happens on the system.” What customers may not see is the depth of preparation behind that readiness—and how personal the work is for the people doing it.

“We live in the same communities we serve. Keeping the lights on isn’t just our job—it’s for our families, friends, and neighbors.”

One of Jamie’s proudest accomplishments was earning NERC Continuing Education Provider status for Central Hudson’s Transmission Operations training program. This milestone allows operators to earn accredited certification hours directly through internal training—something that had previously required third‑party providers. It’s a change that strengthens the department, recognizes internal expertise, and invests directly in long‑term reliability.

At the end of the day, Jamie’s work helps ensure that when customers flip a switch—especially during storms, emergencies, or major events—the people behind the controls are prepared, capable, and confident.
