Meet Aaron, Outage Data Coordinator at Central Hudson.
He helps maintain the systems that track outages, power the outage map, and support crews restoring service.
When customers check the outage map, report a loss of power, or receive updates during an emergency, there’s a complex system working behind the scenes to make that possible. Aaron helps keep that system accurate, responsive, and reliable.
Aaron works with the Outage Management System that powers Central Hudson’s outage map and serves as a critical tool for both customers and crews. The same system customers rely on for information is used by the Control Center to track outages, dispatch crews, and guide restoration efforts across the Hudson Valley.
What Aaron enjoys most about his work is the ability to help people in meaningful ways—especially when conditions are challenging. “I like that every day brings different problems to solve,” he says. “That variety keeps the work interesting, but more importantly, it allows us to respond when people really need support.”
One moment that stands out took place during a stretch of sub‑zero winter weather. Drawing on ideas he’d been developing earlier in the year, Aaron helped use OMS data and customer communication tools in a new way. By working with local municipalities, the team was able to quickly identify affected customers and directly notify them about warming centers opened at nearby fire departments during extended outages. “That coordination helped people get somewhere safe while power was being restored,” he says.
Aaron’s work plays a direct role in how outages are communicated and resolved. Customers may never see the systems running in the background, but those tools help ensure information is accurate, crews are dispatched efficiently, and communities stay informed during critical moments.
Outside of work, Aaron spends much of his time volunteering and being outdoors—both of which reinforce the values that guide him on the job. In everything he does, he focuses on making life easier and better for the people around him, especially when it matters most.
