Central Hudson Customer Alert: Protect Your Account Information

Central Hudson urges customers to never share their account information or passwords with third parties, as doing so exposes personal information and could lead to financial loss and identity theft.

“A recent post on Craigslist offers a cash incentive to customers willing to share their Central Hudson user name and password,” said Charles A. Freni, Senior Vice President of Customer Services and Transmission and Distribution Operations. “Customers must be extremely wary of these solicitations and should not provide personal account information to anyone. Unfortunately, scammers are clever, and customers must be vigilant in protecting their identities.”

Freni added that Central Hudson is a member of Utilities United Against Scams (UUAS), a national organization of utility companies working to help expose the tactics scammers use and educate residents and small business owners on how to protect themselves. “Spreading the word on the importance of keeping personal information private is one way to help prevent customers from becoming victimized,” said Freni.
