Central Hudson Offers Discounted LED lightbulbs at Ulster County Fair

Customers interested in purchasing energy efficient technology to lower their carbon footprint and save money should visit Central Hudson Gas & Electric Corporation’s pop-up shop at this year’s Ulster County Fair, taking place July 30 to Aug. 4 in New Paltz.

“We’re offering great deals on highly efficient LED light bulbs,” said Anthony Campagiorni, Vice President of Customer Services & Regulatory Affairs. He said variety packs of 11 ENERGY STAR certified LEDs are available at the fair for only $10 each, and include a free LED desk lamp; and 8-packs of directional LEDs are also available for $10. Both will be offered at the pop-up shop by CenHub, Central Hudson’s online portal for energy efficiency.

LED, or light emitting diode, lightbulbs are designed to reduce electricity used for lighting by 70 to 90 percent while producing the same brightness, and last up to 25 times longer than incandescent bulbs. By lowering energy use, each LED bulb is estimated to save households an average of about $8 per year, and with an expected life span of up to 20 years, provide a total lifetime savings of $150 each.

“LED lightbulbs help our customers manage their energy use while improving lighting at home or in the workplace,” said Campagiorni. “The CenHub Store pop-up shop at the Ulster County Fair gives our customers an opportunity to purchase discounted LEDs that will save them money over the lifetime of each bulb.”

Campagiorni also noted that for the third consecutive year, employee-volunteers will help staff the 4-H Foundation milkshake booth on Aug. 2 and Aug. 3. The 4-H Foundation is a nonprofit that supports youth development. Employees will serve customers, make milkshakes and assist with other tasks as needed. Their assistance will help the 4-H students use their time to prepare for other fair commitments, including showing the animals they’ve raised. Central Hudson sponsored the 4-H booth by providing thousands of cups promoting 4-H and information on how to learn more about energy efficiency through CenHub.
