Denise Doring VanBuren, Vice President of Public Relations for Central Hudson Gas & Electric Corporation, was inducted into the SUNY New Paltz School of Business Hall of Fame, receiving the Dean’s Award of Excellence.

The School of Business Hall of Fame recognizes the achievements of students, faculty, alumni and community members who have made significant contributions to their respective business professions and to the educational activities at SUNY New Paltz. VanBuren was one of four inductees at a ceremony held in Poughkeepsie on April 18.

VanBuren was recognized as an accomplished executive at Central Hudson. Over the course of her 25-year career she has managed Public Relations, Corporate Communications, Economic Development, Marketing, Energy Efficiency and Governmental Affairs.

“As a member of Central Hudson’s Board of Directors, I have enjoyed working alongside Denise, who is an exceptional leader and professional and a person who cares deeply about the business community and the Hudson Valley,” said SUNY New Paltz President Donald P. Christian. “Denise has enjoyed a rich and celebrated life in service and volunteerism.”

In 2005, she was recognized as Executive of the Year at Central Hudson, and is highly engaged with the community. She holds leadership positions in many organizations including Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce, the Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital of Westchester Medical Center, and as board chair of Dutchess Tourism, Inc. VanBuren also serves as the first Vice President General for the Daughters of the American Revolution.

VanBuren lives in Dutchess County with her husband, and has three grown sons.

Central Hudson’s Lauren Lawlor, Director of Compensation, Benefits and Employment, is also a School of Business Hall of Fame inductee, and as an employee was recognized as Student Leader of the Year in 2009 while enrolled in the MBA program.
