Apply Now for BetterU Makeover Challenge, Sponsored by Central Hudson

Heart disease claims the lives of one in three women in the United States, more than any other disease. That is why Central Hudson Gas & Electric Corporation is once again sponsoring the BetterU Makeover Challenge, a 12-week lifestyle change offered by the American Heart Association for women ready to improve their overall physical and emotional health and reduce their risk for heart disease.

“The BetterU Makeover Challenge provides local women an opportunity to invest in their health, and makes a meaningful difference in the lives participants and their families,” said Denise D. VanBuren, Vice President of Public Relations at Central Hudson. “It’s a guided program incorporating medical screening, exercise, nutritional guidance and professional and group support, providing positive motivation for real results.”

Program applications, available at, are due June 26, 2017. Twelve participants will be selected to participate in the 12-week challenge. Each participant will receive:

 Baseline & 12-week medical readings by Health Quest Medical Practice

  • 3-month membership to Gold’s Gym – LaGrange
  • Personal training with Gold’s Gym
  • Nutrition advice from a medical professional
  • Group support from other BetterU participants
  • The power, resources and tools of

 “This is the seventh year Central Hudson has sponsored the BetterU Makeover Challenge, and we’re proud to continue our support for this amazing program,” said VanBuren. “Participating women have seen improvements in their health and lifestyles as a result of their involvement, and we look forward to helping to inspire a new group of women this year. Learning how to reduce the risk for heart disease not only saves lives, it can also improve our outlook, leading to happier and more fulfilling lives.”
