Learn how to lower utility bills, use energy more efficiently and reduce your carbon footprint at Central Hudson Gas & Electric’s interactive display featured at this year’s Dutchess County Fair, taking place August 20 through 25 in Rhinebeck.
“The theme of our exhibit this year is Sustainability, and we’ll be demonstrating the many ways in which our customers can save energy as well as the many measures Central Hudson takes to protect the environment,” said Denise D. VanBuren, Vice President of Public Relations with Central Hudson.
An illustrated footpath at the display booth will lead visitors along a journey to learn of the “steps” they can take to become more energy efficient. Customers will also learn ways to interact with Central Hudson online and how to take advantage of energy efficiency programs, incentives and measures offered to help them save on their energy bills.
“We’re also offering special pricing on highly efficient LED light bulbs,” said VanBuren. She said variety packs of 11 ENERGY STAR certified LEDs are available at the fair for only $10 each, and include a free LED desk lamp; and 8-packs of directional LEDs are also available for $10. Both will be offered on the fairgrounds at a separate pop-up shop by CenHub, Central Hudson’s online portal for energy efficiency.
LED, or light emitting diode, lightbulbs are designed to reduce electricity used for lighting by 70 to 90 percent while producing the same amount of light, and last up to 25 times longer than incandescent bulbs. By replacing six of the most used incandescent lights with LEDs, households can save up to $90 per year.
Central Hudson is also once again proud to partner with the Dutchess County Fairgrounds through its ninth annual sponsorship in support of recycling at the fair. “We join the Dutchess County Agricultural Society in our commitment to protecting and preserving our beautiful Hudson River Valley, and so we’re very pleased to support the fair’s recycling efforts,” said VanBuren. Recycling bins will be placed throughout the fairgrounds, and visitors are encouraged to recycle their water and other beverage bottles. Recycling was originally established by the fairgrounds in the 1990s.
