Central Hudson Facebook Page Policies
- What this page will not provide:
Because it is not constantly monitored and is not set up to efficiently process reports of electric outages or gas odors or other emergency situations, Central Hudson urges customers to NEVER rely on its Facebook page to report these conditions:
a. Electric outages: Outage reports must be called in to Central Hudson at (845) 452-2700 or submitted online via Central Hudson’s website at https://www.cenhud.com
b. Gas odors: A dedicated hotline to receive reports of gas odors (ONLY) is available at all times at 1 (800) 942-8274. These options for reporting outages and gas odors are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
c. Account-specific information: To protect customer privacy, we are unable to discuss account-specific financial matters on public Facebook forums. Because we cannot verify that the Facebook profile from which the comment is posted is truly from that customer and because we do not want to risk divulging information that could breach the privacy of a customer’s Central Hudson billing or private financial information, we will avoid in-depth comments on these matters. Furthermore, this Facebook page is intended for items of general interest and is not a substitute for our customer service center. Customers who post account-specific inquiries will be referred to contact our customer service department and may have their comments deleted.
2. Zero-tolerance for threats:
Any threat to Central Hudson personnel, customers, contractors, property or an expressed intent for any other criminal activity that is posted on Central Hudson’s Facebook page – or in any other forum – will be reported by Central Hudson to law enforcement officials. Such comments will also be deleted from Central Hudson’s Facebook page and the person who posted the comment will be banned from posting comments on Central Hudson’s Facebook page.
3. Inappropriate language:
Central Hudson will delete comments left on its Facebook page that it deems to be slanderous, hostile, profane, abusive, racist, sexist, or otherwise offensive. Any person posting those comments may be banned from Central Hudson’s Facebook page at Central Hudson’s discretion. The same applies to any person who posts web links or other any other forms of media (pictures, video, etc.) that fall into the aforementioned categories.
4. Chronic/duplicate complaints:
While Central Hudson welcomes valid customer complaints on its Facebook page – and views such criticisms as an opportunity to improve service and/or educate customers about the energy industry and energy usage – any person who makes a practice of repeatedly posting identical or extremely similar comments on Central Hudson’s Facebook page may have some or all of their comments deleted. Continued offenses of this nature will lead to that person being banned from posting on the Central Hudson Facebook page. Central Hudson attempts to answer each complaint as it arises and does so as quickly as possible (please remember that this page is NOT constantly monitored 24 hours a day or 7 days a week). There is no need to inundate Central Hudson’s Facebook page with a repetitive comment in an attempt to garner attention. Doing so minimizes the visibility and impact of comments made on the page by other customers and by Central Hudson and will not be tolerated.
5. Spam/marketing messages:
Central Hudson will delete “spam” messages or any comments left on its Facebook page that promote some other commercial enterprise or that are deemed by Central Hudson to be intended as unsolicited advertisements. Any person who posts such a message may be banned from posting comments on Central Hudson’s Facebook page.
6. Comments by others:
Comments, recommendations or assertions of fact made by anyone other than Central Hudson on Central Hudson’s Facebook page are not implicitly endorsed by Central Hudson.
7. Facebook’s rules:
In addition to the above guidelines set forth by Central Hudson, please be familiar with and adhere to Facebook’s Terms and Conditions as they are applicable throughout Facebook, including on Central Hudson’s Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/terms.php
8. General
Central Hudson reserves the right to add to or remove from these terms at any time as well as to delete any comment and block any person from its Facebook page for the aforementioned violations or previously unstated reasons if Central Hudson deems necessary.
