Family Contribution / Business Administration: In support of the Corporate Mission; Carry out policies and programs covering several or all of the following: Purchasing, Corporate Communications, Contracting, Human Resources and other business services. Participates in, plans, and coordinates activities of designated project or area to ensure that goals or objectives are accomplished. May review plans and goals to determine time frame, funding limitations, and procedures for accomplishing tasks. May establish a work plan for each project/responsibilities assigned and prioritize work steps to meet time constraints. May confer with peers or team members to outline and clarify duties, responsibilities, and scope of authority to accomplish project/responsibilities. May prepare and review status reports on progress and modify as needed. May prepare project reports for management.
Individual Contribution: In support of the Corporate Mission and Family Contribution;
Investigate and settle claims for property damage and bodily injuries resulting
from the operations of the Company.
Manage lawsuits brought against the Company, including the assignment of
defense counsel and experts as needed.
Advise and assist, in any manner, other Company personnel regarding
claims matters. Take appropriate legal
and ethical action deemed necessary to protect the Company’s interests. Seek to resolve claims, on a fair and
reasonable basis, whenever possible and make recommendations on whether to
settle lawsuits or proceed to trial.
Provide support to outside attorneys in the defense of lawsuits. Provide necessary information and
documentation on claims, litigated matters, and reserves to the Controller, the
Company’s Staff Attorney and General Counsel and discuss contemplated
strategies with them. Cooperate with
representatives of the Company’s and plaintiff’s insurance carriers and
brokers. Be on call to respond to any
situation involving major property damage and serious bodily injuries. Supervise the activities of the Claims
Adjuster in furtherance of the above activities. Participate in other activities as assigned and maintain or
improve skills by utilizing available professional development resources.
