Family Contribution / Operations: Operates
and maintains electric and gas transmission and distribution systems. This includes electric lines between
generating stations, substations, and consumers, requiring use of precautionary
work methods and safety equipment due to electrical hazards present when
working on or near energized conductors and electrical accessories. Also includes gas pipelines between gate
stations, regulator stations and consumers requiring precautionary work methods
and safety equipment due to hazards present when working on pressurized and
potentially explosive systems.
Individual Contribution: : In support of the Company Mission and Family
Contribution;
Plan,
schedule, coordinate, and supervise the personnel engaged in the 24X7 operation
and control of the gas and electric Transmission systems, switching and valving of the
gas and electric Distribution systems, operation of the Control
Center, and supervision of the System Dispatch Center. Maintain an operational environment
with a strict adherence to a “0” tolerance for error policy. Review and approve
all electric and gas Transmission outage requests and coordinate and schedule
all electric and gas Transmission and Distribution Switching and Valving orders. Seek out, recommend, and implement if approved
quality and process improvement opportunities for these operations. Oversee and/or conduct and document the training that
is necessary for System Operations personnel to maintain proficiency and
operational excellence in accordance with Central Hudson, NYISO (New York
Independent System Operator), NPCC (North East Power Coordinating Council),
NERC(North American
Electric Reliability Council), and DOT (Department of Transportation) rules and
guidelines. Coordinate with Customer Services,
Operations Services, neighboring Transmission Owners, and the NYISO to
schedule electric and gas Transmission outages and electric and gas Distribution outages
as necessary. Participate in NYISO and
NGA (Northeast Gas Association) operational committees as necessary. Respond to and assist with storm restoration
activities in System Operations when necessary. Assist
with and/or assume the duties of the Manager – System Operations when required. Maintain DOT Gas Operator qualification by
successfully completing the DOT Gas Operator Qualification Examination every 3
years. Maintain NERC Transmission
Operator certification by completing the required number of NERC Continuing
Education Hours every 3 years. In
support of the Company Mission and Family Contribution; Plan, schedule,
coordinate, and supervise the work of
personnel engaged in directing the operation of the gas and electric
transmission systems, the gas and electric distribution systems, and the
Control Center. Prepare daily gas load forecasts and schedule purchases and/or
production of gas to supply adequate quantities to meet the forecast. Schedule electric and gas transmission
cutouts including coordination wit other utilities and customers as necessary.
