Family Contribution / Engineering & Science: In support of the Corporate Mission; Provides, participates and/or assists in research and analysis encompassing primarily one or more of the following engineering disciplines: electrical, mechanical, civil, and/or environmental.  Conducts analytical studies on engineering proposals to develop designs utilizing and applying engineering principles, research data, and proposed system specifications.  Analyzes data to determine feasibility of project proposals.  Prepares or directs preparations of system layout and detailed drawings and schematics.  Directs and coordinates building of prototype systems.  Plans and develops experimental test programs.  Evaluates engineering test results for possible application to development of systems or other use.  May determine sources and methods of controlling pollutants in air, water, and soil, utilizing knowledge of engineering principles and applied technologies.

 

 

Individual Contribution: In support of the Corporate Mission and Family Contribution;
Provide supervision and technical leadership and development to the employees assigned
to the Electric System Protection Section.  Under general direction, schedule, coordinate,

design, and perform as necessary all functions related to planning, designing, construction and performance, of the Company's protective relay systems and devices to ensure adequate and reliable electric energy transfers while simultaneously maximizing the safety of operation and minimizing damage to plant in-service of system electric transmission and substation, and electric distribution.  Exercise maximum discretion and independent judgment in making decisions and taking action of a non-routine nature.  Approve or recommend for approval the work of assigned employees.  As required, analyze the performance of the Company's electric facilities including the malfunction or failure of equipment and recommend remedial measures.  Provide consulting engineering service to other sections, divisions and groups as required.  As assigned, assist in joint studies with other utilities and utility groups, including representing the Company on Northeast Power Coordinating Council committees, and task forces.
