Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  1. Propose and recommend to the CEO and Board of Directors the strategic direction of Central Hudson Gas & Electric Corporation and its role in meeting overall corporate objectives.
  2. As a member of the Senior Management Team, participate with other members of the Senior Management Team and add value, through active participation, to corporate deliberations and decision making.  Participate and add value, through active participation, to certain Board Committee meetings, Board meetings and strategic planning retreats.
  3. Direct the day to day operations of CHG&E in compliance with environmental standards and federal and state regulations, and assure that Public Service mandates for safe, adequate and reliable delivery of electric and natural gas service are met in a cost effective manner.  Develop and execute strategies to improve reliability of service and maintain high customer satisfaction.
  4. Develop operational plans that further the corporation's strategic direction and closely monitor their execution, evaluate performance and respond quickly and effectively to deviations from plan and to emergency or unforeseen conditions as they arise.
  5. Through the Vice President of Engineering & Environmental Affairs and CARE Committee, develop long-range electric and gas system studies and analyses that will guide the capital planning process and assure that adequate infrastructure is put in place to reliably meet future customer requirements at the lowest cost over time.

5a. Promote a safety culture throughout the organization, and through the Vice President of Human Resources, develop programs to improve safety performance.

  1. Through the Vice President of Engineering & Environmental Affairs, develop productivity improvement programs and cost effective maintenance programs and plans to improve the reliability and lower the maintenance costs of substation and other production assets.
  2. Through the Senior Vice President – Customer Services, develop emergency response plans, productivity improvement programs, cost effective maintenance programs, employee training programs and plans to improve service quality and customer satisfaction.
  3. Through the Executive Vice President – Corporate Services, assure that the human resource, IT, corporate communication and other corporate support services meet the operational needs of Central Hudson Gas & Electric and contribute to efforts to improve productivity and customer service.  Assure adequate safety and physical security programs are in place and are adhered to.
  4. Work closely with the Vice President – Regulatory Affairs to coordinate decision making regarding service quality, operational policies, customer service policies, storm response and capital budgeting to assure full recovery of costs of providing service and avoidance of regulatory penalties or unduly burdensome requirements.
  5. Maintain community visibility and contribute to maintaining a corporate image of dedication to service of the communities Central Hudson serves.
  6. Attract and retain high quality executives for key operational responsibilities and place special emphasis on executive development and succession.
  7. Maintain positive working relationships with regulators, local labor leaders, municipal officials, local business leaders and industry executives.
  8. Serve as a member of the Board of Directors of Central Hudson Gas & Electric Corp.
  9. Serve as a member of the Disclosure Committee.
