Family Contribution / Finance & Accounting: In support of the Corporate Mission; Responsible for applying principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports.  Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts, documenting business transactions.  Analyzes financial information detailing assets, liabilities, and capital, and prepares balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports to summarize current and projected company financial position.  Audits contracts, orders, and vouchers, and prepares reports to substantiate individual transactions prior to settlement.  May establish, modify, document, and coordinate implementation of accounting and accounting control procedures.  May approve transactions and make recommendations to operating management regarding project progress.  In addition to accounting functions, this job family includes budgeting, taxes and internal audit functions.  Accounting for gas and electric energy as well as setting tariff rates for these services is also included.  Risk Management activities are also part of this family.

 

 

Individual Contribution:  In support of the Corporate Mission and Family Contribution; manage the planning, development and coordination of the activities and performance of the work of the Financial Planning Division.  Includes coordination and development of: assessments of short and long-term revenue requirements including assessments of the need to prepare for, file and support the Company’s position in regulatory proceedings, short and long-range financial forecasts to meet the needs of various groups and, annual operating budgets and business plans.  Provide overall direction and supervision of employees in the Tax Department.  Plan, schedule, and coordinate the preparation of State and Federal tax returns for the Company and its subsidiaries by: (a) keeping informed of tax regulations and interpretations; (b) maintaining data required for tax returns; and (c) preparing or directing the preparation of tax returns as they become due.  Direct the preparation of the monthly tax accruals, and the tax calculations for budgets and rate filings (including participating as a witness in rate cases and review of testimony).  Perform tax research and participate with industry groups on tax legislation.  Manage IRS and State tax audits.  Maintain open communications with all Groups of the Company and keep informed of changes in Company plans and policies, as they may affect tax-planning activities.
