Family Contribution / Engineering & Science: In support of the Corporate Mission; Provides, participates and/or assists in research and analysis encompassing primarily one or more of the following engineering disciplines: electrical, mechanical, civil, and/or environmental.  Conducts analytical studies on engineering proposals to develop designs utilizing and applying engineering principles, research data, and proposed system specifications.  Analyzes data to determine feasibility of project proposals.  Prepares or directs preparations of system layout and detailed drawings and schematics.  Directs and coordinates building of prototype systems.  Plans and develops experimental test programs.  Evaluates engineering test results for possible application to development of systems or other use.  May determine sources and methods of controlling pollutants in air, water, and soil, utilizing knowledge of engineering principles and applied technologies.

 

 

Individual Contribution: In support of the Corporate Mission and Family Contribution; under general direction, perform complex engineering assignments related to the preparation of coordinated development plans for the Company's electric and gas systems.  These assignments include; conducting computer studies of existing and proposed transmission and distribution systems on both in-house and outside facilities, preparation of input data and analysis of results, preparing reports for management's approval detailing results and conclusions of studies, including consideration of capital requirement schedules, annual costs, construction schedules, operating procedures, line and equipment loadings, voltage levels or gas pressures, and system losses.  Investigate planning methods and procedures of the electric or gas utility industry, and implement new planning techniques in the Company when appropriate.  Devise and apply methods and procedures for the technical and economic evaluation of alternate proposals for the reinforcement or expansion of the electric or gas transmission and distribution systems.  Develop and recommend statements of engineering practices, service standards and equipment capability standards to be used as a basis for system reinforcement, design and operation.  Participate in the preparation of long-range construction program forecasts and the annual construction budget for the electric or gas system and requiring knowledge of Company and industry practices and the exercise of maximum discretion and independent judgment in making decisions and taking action of a non-routine nature.
