The greater tri-state market, of which we are a part, ranks first in the nation in several important categories:
The Hudson Valley is included in an economic region that is home to 10,000 international businesses, including the world's leading media companies and news organizations, online information providers and leaders in the fields of communications and multimedia. Six of the world's 10 largest book publishers, 12 of the 20 largest international law firms and five of the world's six largest accounting firms are also located in this larger region. The Hudson Valley contains a professional, productive and available workforce with diverse talents and skills. We feature a very high concentration of workers in key industries such as biotech, pharmaceuticals, electronics and microelectronics, advanced machinery and systems, business and financial services, and many others. Employment growth in such "industries of the future" in the Hudson Valley is outpacing that in the larger tri-state region by nearly double. Employers speak highly of Hudson Valley workers, who rank among the highest value-added employees in the U.S., generating $5.89 for every dollar paid in wages. Our manufacturing workers' productivity is 20% higher than the national average; and well worth noting is that wages in the Hudson Valley average about 20% lower than will be found nearby in New York City and its immediate suburbs. |
