Central Hudson employees teamed up with friends and relatives and volunteered to rebuild the home of a recently widowed Town of Poughkeepsie resident on April 30, 2011. It was part of National Rebuilding Day through Rebuilding Together Dutchess County.
More than 20 Central Hudson employee-volunteers, friends and relatives repaired and rebuilt portions of a Poughkeepsie resident’s home in conjunction with the National Rebuilding Day on Saturday, April 30, 2011. The volunteers installed new sub floors, faucets, repaired portions of the ceiling and roof, repaired gutters, painted, cleaned and washed the home of a recently widowed resident in need.
“National Rebuilding Day provides a wonderful opportunity to help those in our community, and the annual event is somewhat of a tradition for us at Central Hudson,” said Jodi Harris, co-captain of Central Hudson’s team. “Seeing the difference that our efforts made for the homeowner is very rewarding.”
“It is a wonderful experience to be able to come together to help a fellow resident,” said Jay Tompkins, also a co-captain of Central Hudson’s team. “Participating in this event is a privilege, and provides needed support.”
“We are so very thankful for Central Hudson’s longstanding support of Rebuilding Together Dutchess County,” said Christina Boryk, the organization’s Executive Director. “Local corporate support is a significant portion of our organization’s funding. As we head into our 20th year, we are especially grateful for sponsors like Central Hudson that have been with us since our very first National Rebuilding Day in 1992.”
