High Winds Bring About Electric Service Interruptions

Crews continue to work in the aftermath of yesterday’s high winds, restoring service to the remaining 3,500 customers who lost power as a result of the storm. Reports of additional power outages were received Wednesday night, as winds shifted north, affecting many new customers in Ulster and Greene counties.

Outages peaked at 18,000 at 11 a.m. Wednesday morning, and crews have restored service to more than 26,000 customers since the start of the storm. The remaining service interruptions are concentrated mostly in Ulster County, and scattered throughout the rest of Mid-Hudson Valley, as follows:

Dutchess:  640
Orange: 40
Putnam: 270
Ulster: 1,530
Greene: 700

More than 150 damage locations remain, and crews will make repairs throughout today to restore service. At this time, customers currently without power are anticipated to have their service restored between mid-morning and late afternoon today. Customers may report their power condition or check on their restoration status by calling Central Hudson’s automated PowerLine at (845) 452-2700 or 1-800-527-2714. Customers with computer access may also view an on-line outage map and report their power condition or check on their restoration status by logging onto www.CentralHudson.com/StormCentral.html.
