Central Hudson Employees Raise Funds for the United Way
Central Hudson Gas & Electric Corporation and its employees held another successful United Way campaign, raising more than $375,000 in employee contributions and shareholder matching funds and surpassing the goal for this year’s campaign. “Our employees have shown once again that they place a high priority in support of our local community,” said Carl E. Meyer, President and Chief Operating Officer. “This is especially important during difficult economic times, when so many agencies and residents are struggling. This year’s campaign theme was entitled, ‘Help the World, Help Your Community,’ and our employees recognize that generosity, particularly now, is founded on doing the right thing for our neighbors.” Central Hudson Gas & Electric Corporation matches contributions made by its employees to the United Way Community Fund, and the funding supports United Way organizations of Dutchess, Orange, Ulster, Putnam, Sullivan and Columbia-Greene counties. In addition to financial contributions, Central Hudson volunteers participated in the United Way Days of Caring held throughout the Mid Hudson Valley this fall to help agencies with important housekeeping projects. Employee-volunteer teams provided assistance to three agencies in Dutchess, Orange and Ulster counties by painting and refurbishing buildings and grounds, and learned more of the programs offered by the agencies they were assisting. “Many employees feel that this is another way to give back to organizations that support our community and those in need,” said Meyer. “The experience also further connects our volunteers with the agencies and their missions, and many employees return year after year to help support the important work performed by these agencies.” For more information on Central Hudson’s community support programs, visit the “About Us” section at www.CentralHudson.com. # # #
