Central Hudson Alerts Customers to Marketing Call Campaign

Central Hudson Gas & Electric Corporation alerts its customers of a marketing campaign to cell phones made by an independent energy supply company that may not be authorized by the New York State Public Service Commission to provide energy services within the utility’s service area. The calls include the message, “Reply ‘yes’ if you want to save 20 percent on your electric and gas bills.

Central Hudson reminds customers that these calls are not made by the utility, and that cell phone numbers associated with customer accounts are never shared by Central Hudson without permission.

“These calls are not connected with Central Hudson in any way, and we believe that a company that is not approved to sell energy services within Central Hudson’s service area is making the calls,” said Denise D. VanBuren, Vice President of Corporate Communications. “Customers may pursue the offer if they wish, however should be aware that they may be connected with a company that cannot actually enroll their accounts.”

Central Hudson’s Customer Choice program allows customers the option to choose their electric and natural gas energy supplier, while the utility continues to deliver those energy products to homes and businesses. Information about the program and a list of approved energy service companies are provided on Central Hudson’s website, www.CentralHudson.com, in the Energy Choice section.
