Natural Gas Service Restored to Village and Town of Montogmery |
Natural gas service was restored to the Village and Town of Montgomery and all accessible affected homes and businesses last night by Central Hudson Gas & Electric crews. Gas service was interrupted to approximately 600 customers following significant damage to a natural gas line on Thursday, caused by a contractor installing a water main in the Town of Montgomery near Route 208 and Neelytown Road. Repairs to the damaged line were completed yesterday. Utility crews revisited each home and businesses Friday afternoon and evening to restore gas service and safely relight appliances. Approximately 10 percent of affected homes were not accessible to crews, and the utility has made contact with those homeowners to gain access and turn service back on today or at a later date convenient to the customer. Utility crews continue to work in the Village of Montgomery to revisit those remaining homes that become accessible today. “We are grateful to the valuable assistance provided by municipal leaders, local police and fire departments, and county and state officials in responding to this emergency,” said Charles A. Freni, Senior Vice President of Customer Services for Central Hudson. “We also thank our customers for their patience and understanding, particularly during a holiday week, as we worked to restore natural gas service to their homes and businesses.” . # # # |
