Central Hudson Gas & Electric Corporation (Central Hudson) is a regulated transmission and distribution utility serving approximately 300,000 electric customers and 74,000 natural gas customers in a defined service territory of New York State’s Mid-Hudson River Valley. Central Hudson delivers natural gas and electricity in a defined service territory that extends from the suburbs of metropolitan New York City north to the Capital District at Albany. Central Hudson is a leader in promoting regional economic growth, improving system reliability, and effective cost management. (All figures reported below are as of 12/31/2008).

Electric Sales
Central Hudson owns substations having an aggregate transformer capacity of 5.3 million kilovolt amps. Central Hudson’s electric transmission system consists of 629 pole miles of line. The electric distribution system consists of 8,078 pole miles of overhead lines and 1,371 trench miles of underground lines, as well as customer service lines and meters.

Natural Gas Firm Sales
Central Hudson’s natural gas system consists of 163 miles of transmission pipelines and 1,163 miles of distribution pipelines, as well as customer service lines and meters. For the year ended December 31, 2008, the total amount of natural gas purchased by Central Hudson from all sources was 11,846,829 Mcf. Central Hudson owns two propane-air mixing facilities for emergency and peak-shaving purposes, one located in Poughkeepsie, New York, and the other in Newburgh, New York. These facilities, in aggregate, are capable of supplying 8,000 Mcf per day with propane storage capability adequate to provide maximum facility output for up to six consecutive days.
